Naura Kelly is a new librarian who thought she was prepared for any job after graduating from library school. However, Valerie, her boss, a gray-haired spinster in her mid-forties, and Bob Roberts, the "cigar-chomping, fat-assed" director who leers at her have their own methods of doing everything. She has one lover outside of the library who she doesn't see often enough so she fantasizes about young patrons and Jay, a high school senior who shelves books. Valerie assigns Naura to the "lower stacks" where "the smell of rotting books nearly choked her." The privacy offers her the chance to have sex with a variety of patrons until Valerie comes down to join in. After that Valerie was more tolerant of Naura's professional inexperience and new methods of doing things. Naura continues to have sexual escapades away from the library with patrons she has met there. On one occasion Naura knocks over Jay's book cart containing "hundreds and hundreds" of books that he had in order. In order to make it up to him she seduces him in the stacks after the library closes; later his brother and Bob Roberts join in to end the book. Stereotype: Nymphomaniacal young female librarian. Most of the library and librarian
descriptions are reasonable, except for the number of books on a book cart.. |
