Monday, 10 November, Port Douglas, QLD, AU We spent the day catching up and catching our breath. We did two loads of laundry while having a nice breakfast in the little Sunbird Cafe next door to the hotel laundry. Great scones and hot chocolate. After that was done, we got the car from the valet (no self-parking here) and drove into town to check out Port Douglas. We wandered around shopping at the Marine Mall and then had a nice lunch at a restaurant on the harbor. Gail was even able to get excellent calamari. We then went to a Coles supermarket and stocked up on water, juices, and various evil munchies. On the way back to the hotel we went around one roundabout three times, laughing, since it wasn't clear which one of the two branches went to the hotel. We finally figured it out, but then had to go around again to get in the right lane to take the exit from it. We'd investigated another tour when we were at the mall, and when back at the hotel went to the concierge to book a tour for Thursday, to the Rain Forest Sky Rail. We took a swim in the lagoon and then walked to the beach on the Coral Sea. We stayed out of the water, since it was "stinger season", the time that the jellyfish have come back to the area. Having been stung a few days ago, and knowing that ones here can be of different varieties that are much more serious. We came back to the room, soaked in our gigantic bathtub in our room, ordered room service, and went to bed. We're now sort of caught up on sleep at least. Back to itinerary (trip home page)
