Tuesday, 18 November, Nambucca Heads, NSW, AU to Parramatta, NSW, AU This was our last full day on the road before turning the car in very early Wednesday morning. It rained lightly again much of the day, but it wasn't a problem. We stopped for breakfast at another McCafe. No real road problems, just construction and traffic increasing as we neared the city. We'd used Google Maps for directions, and it got us almost al the way to the hotel. Unfortunately, the system didn't know that a road we were supposed to drive on had been turned into a mall several years ago. In our searching around for the motel and a bathroom I noticed the Civic Plaza and Public Library, so we stopped and went in. After getting the key to the restrooms we went to the reference desk and asked for directions. The librarian gave us a local map and directions on how to beat the one way streets and get to the hotel. The post office was across the street, so I got stamps to mail postcards. We settled in to the motel and decided to do the simple thing for dinner, just go next door to the Lone Star Steakhouse, another American imprint on Australia. Dinner was fine and we went to bed early as the TV was filled with coverage of the world premiere of Australia. |
