Sunday, 18 January, Aventura to Orlando, Florida

We checked out of the Marriott and went to a nearby Starbucks for breakfast, and spent an hour or so reading and relaxing. We then headed to St. John's Episcopal Church in Hollywood, a few miles north, and on our way to Orlando. It was quite a different service, a cross between "high church" Episcopal and "Southern Baptist". They used all the vestments and bells and so forth, but there were also people calling out "amen" and "that's right" and so forth during the sermon and some scripture readings.  We've been to a wide variety of Episcopal and Anglican churches, but this was a first. They were very friendly, and invited us to their annual picnic in a nearby park, so we went. They were cooking wonderful ribs and chicken, but it became clear that things weren't going to be served for a couple of hours. Just about that time the death of Angel just hit Gail, and she broke down sobbing. She hadn't cried yet, and for whatever reason that was the time for it. I made our excuses and we got in the car and headed on north.  We stopped for late lunch at a turnpike rest area and at another pit stop Gail bought a nice big bag of Indian River grapefruit, grown just down the road.

About 530 we got to the Worldmark in Orlando without any problems finding it, thanks to Google maps and the iPhone. It was much nicer than we expected, based on our previous Worldmark experience. We had a nice large unit at the end of the building, so it was quiet, and was also only half full, I'd guess. We went to Denny's for supper and then watched the AFC playoff game, with the Steelers winning. A busy day, but now to a place where we won't leave for a week.
